Do you believe in Santa? Do you believe Santa came to Hertford and visited the Mini Morgans Nursery Grotto, a much loved nursery in Hertford?
Loads of children, mums, dads and families came to see the great man himself. Most of the children wanted to tell him what they hoped to find under the Christmas tree, while many parents simply wanted to share the magic of Christmas with their children.
Some people might question the idea of continuing a tradition that, when you think about it, is quite unusual. Children go to see a rotund, sometimes intimidating, white bearded man dressed in red robes who travels the world in a single night to deliver presents based on a good list and a naughty list. For the rest of the year, he is said to live at the North Pole with his elves, unseen by anyone.
At Mini Morgans, a trusted nursery in Hertford , we decided to invite Santa to visit from the North Pole in a way that aligns with our values. We do not believe in labelling children as naughty, and our therapeutic approach avoids blame or shame. Our focus is always on what helps children thrive and develop in a healthy and supportive environment.
Christmas, like many cultural traditions and celebrations, creates a brilliant opportunity to provide meaningful experiences and learning moments for children. Santa visiting our nursery in Hertford forms part of that experience. Children love characters and are naturally drawn to their stories, which is why the best children's books are filled with memorable characters. Characters spark imagination, encourage purposeful play, and help children explore the world around them.
When characters and stories are shared between families, communities and even across countries, children develop a sense of connection and belonging. These shared experiences help build emotional security and confidence.
Mini Morgans will be sending out another invitation for Santa to return to Hertfordshire next Christmas. Until then, we will continue to keep the magic alive throughout the year for the children and families we support at our nursery in Hertford.
